
Invermectin is an FDA-approved antiparasitic drug that is used to treat several neglected tropical diseases such as scabies and helminthiasis. The drug has not been approved for the treatment of viral infections.
The FDA warns that taking medication intented for animals can cause toxic reactions in humans because doses are highly concentrated.
Some of the side effects that maybe associated with invermentin includes skin cancer/ rash, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, facial or limp swelling, dizziness, seizures, confusion, hepatitis and sudden drop in blood pressure.
“While there are approved uses of invermentin in people and animals. Its not approved for the treatment and prevention of Covid-19” FDA warns.
