Nigeria’s (Super Eagles) Eliminated From Afcon By Tunisia (0:1)

The Super Eagles have been eliminated from AFCON. Nigeria 0:1 Tunisia. It was an evenly contested match in Garoua, as Tunisia ultimately come out on top and return the favour for their loss to the Super Eagles in the 2019 third-place playoff match. Tunisia will now face Burkina Faso in the quarterfinal! Tunisia managed to beat Nigeria’s clean 9 points record despite their 12 player’s covid situation.

Steven Gerrard has been appointed as the new head coach of Aston Villa after a £4 million compensation deal was agreed with Rangers.

Six years after departing Liverpool as a player, Gerrard is returning to the Premier League and will become the highest-paid manager in Villa’s history on a deal worth around £5 million a year.

The former England captain, one of the key men in the ‘Golden Generation’, has signed a three-and-a-half year contract, with highly-regarded coaches Gary McAllister and Michael Beale also making the move from Glasgow to the Midlands.

Gerrard had dinner with Christian Purslow, the chief executive, in London last night after being cleared for talks and is relishing the prospect of his first managerial position in England’s top division.

He said: “Aston Villa is a club with a rich history and tradition in English football and I am immensely proud to become its new head coach.Advertisement

“In my conversations with [owners] Nassef [Sawiris], Wes [Edens] and the rest of the board, it was apparent how ambitious their plans are for the club and I am looking forward to helping them achieve their aims.

Tyson Fury recovers from two knockdowns in the fourth round to complete a stunning knockout victory over. He staged a sensational recovery and dropped Wilder in the 10th before inflicting a crushing knockout to retain his WBC belt.

Wilder in the 11th round after dragging himself off the canvas in an epic world heavyweight title fight in Las Vegas.

Wilder had been blasted to the canvas in the third round, but the American nearly pulled off a stunning fightback in the fourth, before Fury quickly regained command and eventually broke the resistance of his exhausted challenger.

Captain Andre Ayew and former Swansea City player is set to complete a move to Qatari giants Al Sadd. The club announce that they have agreed on a deal to sign Black Stars captain Andre Ayew.

The 31-year-old will arrive in the Qatari capital of Doha on Thursday to undergo a complete medical routine, before sealing what could be a massive pay deal and the official announcement for the utility player.

Captain Andre Ayew will work under ex-Barca midfielder Xavi Hernandez, who won Best Coach of the Season, and play alongside ex-Arsenal man Santi Cazorla, the Best Player of the Qatari League season.

Update: “Hudson-Odoi Set To Remain At Chelsea For The Next Season”

Hudson-Odoi looks set to remain at Chelsea next season as a source close to the winger insisted he would not be leaving the club as part of a swap deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Chelsea are understood to have been willing to offer Dortmund either Tammy Abraham or Callum Hudson-Odoi in part exchange for Haaland, but had their proposal turned down by the Bundesliga side, who are determined to hold onto the 20-year-old.

However, Sky Sports News has been told by someone close to Hudson-Odoi that the winger “will not be part of any swap deal involving Haaland”.

The 20-year-old is said to have a “fantastic relationship” with Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel and sees his long-term future at the club, even if that means fighting for his place in the first team during the upcoming season.

In a clash of flyweight contenders, Brazil’s Jennifer Maia outlasted Jessica Eye via unanimous decision over three rounds.

Scores were 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 for the No.4-ranked Maia, now 19-7-1. The No.7-ranked Eye falls to 15-10, 1 NC.

The first five minutes were fast paced, both fighters staying busy with their standup game. Eye was the aggressor throughout and she landed at a greater clip, even though Maia scored with some big shots. Eye broke open the close round late, though, as she delivered a takedown that was a good end to the frame for her.

Sports: “Dricus Defeats Trevin Via A Second Round Knockout Win”

In middleweight action, Dricus Du Plessis made it two UFC wins and two knockouts, as he halted Trevin Giles in the second round.

Du Plessis was the aggressor from the start, but the cool and collected Giles reacted well to his foe’s rushes. The South Africa native adjusted, though, and in the closing stages of the round he moved to his grappling game, where he had success late.

Giles came out fast for round two, but after having some success, he got careless defensively, and Du Plessis made him pay with a flush right hand that sent the Texan hard to the canvas. Moments later, the fight was over, with referee Christ Tognoni halting the bout at 1:41 of the second round.

Sports: Topuria Defeats Ryan Via A First Round Knockout Win”

Unbeaten featherweight prospect Ilia Topuria promised a first-round knockout against Ryan Hall, and he delivered on that promise, as he snapped Hall’s eight-fight winning streak in emphatic fashion.

A minute in, Hall tried to roll into a leg lock but missed the mark, forcing the fight back to the feet. Moments later he did it again and again, but Topuria wasn’t having it. Midway through the round, Hall did get a hold of his foe, but Topuria punched his way out, and he continued to do so whenever Hall tried to grapple. And in the closing minute of the round, Topuria went on the attack, and as the fight went to the mat, he unleashed a series of ground strikes that brought the bout to an end. The official time of referee Jason Herzog’s stoppage was 4:47 of round one.
